Driver safety on collection rounds

A driver can be well inside their legal hours and still be dangerously tired. On an early start, on streets they know by heart, they’re often the last to notice. EROAD helps you spot fatigue and risky driving, so you can step in sooner and coach the drivers who need it.

What waste operators ask us

Light vehicles can run EROAD Locate, which plugs into the OBD-II port. Plant and equipment without a port are covered differently: Etrack G70 wires into the machine's own power, or Etrack Oyster 3 runs on its own battery. 

Yes. Battery trackers are built for non-powered assets and report on a schedule rather than continuously, which is what makes the battery last. An Etrack Where tag works differently: it's Bluetooth, picked up by an Ehubo2 within 70 metres, so a bin on a quiet site shows where a truck last saw it. Metal can weaken or block the signal, so it's worth testing one on a steel skip first. 

Retrospective Activity and Trip Investigator show which vehicles were in an area between two times you choose, so you can see whether a truck went down that street, and when. It can't confirm a bin was actually emptied, but it answers whether the truck was there. 

Yes, with job coding. Trips are tagged with a job code, so the kilometres you invoice match the ones driven for that job. 

They enter a four-digit PIN on the in-cab unit before setting off, so time behind the wheel is logged against a person rather than a registration. In a mixed-use light vehicle, they also mark each trip business or private for Fringe Benefits Tax. It all happens on the Ehubo2, with no extra app and no mobile device management.
