Manually keeping tabs on equipment across sites or a large yard is slow and relies on people doing the right thing - and if something goes missing, you often don't know until it's too late. Tracking your gear means you always know where it is and when it last moved, so you can stop paying to replace things you already own, see what's actually being used versus sitting idle, and respond faster with a clear record if something is stolen.

Technically, yes but it depends on what you need to get out of it. Our GPS tracker Oyster 3, will report location on a car, ute or truck just as it would on a trailer or piece of plant. A Where tag will also work, but because it relies on being picked up by a passing Ehubo2 or the Where app rather than reporting its own GPS position, you'll only get a location when something drives past, which isn't the kind of continuous tracking most fleets want for a vehicle on the road.

If you're wanting to properly track a vehicle, including things like speed, driving behaviour, idle time or fuel use, not just location - you're better off with the G70 or a dedicated vehicle telematics device like the Ehubo2 or EROAD Locate, built for that job. Asset trackers are the right choice when the priority is simply knowing where something is and it doesn't need the extra productivity or safety insights a vehicle telematics device provides.

The G70 and the Oyster 3 are GPS trackers that report their own position, one on the machine's power, the other on its own battery. A Where tag is Bluetooth only: it's picked up whenever an Ehubo2, or someone with the Where app, passes within range. That's the mesh network.

It's the network that gives Where and Where Mini tags their location, without each tag needing its own GPS. Every active Ehubo2 across the country, plus the EROAD Where app installed on your team's smart devices, acts as a listening point in the network. When one of these passes within range of a tag — up to 70 metres for a Where tag, or 25 metres for a Where Mini — it picks up the tag's signal and reports its location back to you. The more Ehubo2 devices and Where app users out on the road, the more consistently your tags get picked up, even if you don't have a vehicle passing by very often.

Paper sign-out sheets hold up on one small site and fall apart across several. Gear gets bought or hired again because nobody can find the one you've got, and when something's stolen there's often no record of when it left.

With a tag, you see where the asset was last spotted. A tracker keeps reporting on its own: the G70 in near real-time, the Oyster 3 at set intervals or when it moves.
