A driver can be within their legal hours and still be dangerously tired, because they slept poorly, or they're stressed or unwell. On paper, they're fine. A camera pointed at the driver can pick up the signs.

Tools for managers

Frequently asked questions

It uses cameras and machine learning models trained to recognise specific behaviours - eye closure, yawning, frequent blinking, phone use - in real time, rather than waiting for a harsh driving event like hard braking to trigger a recording 

Clarity Edge without AI still captures and uploads video automatically after a harsh driving event, same as a standard integrated dashcam.

The road, driver and fatigue AI models are what add real-time voice alerts for the driver and simultaneous notifications to your team.

Yes, the Fatigue AI model is built to detect eye closure and blinking even when a driver is wearing sunglasses.

The driver gets an immediate voice alert in the cab, and your team receives a notification at the same time - so there's a chance to intervene, rather than only finding out after an incident or during a scheduled review.

If you have the Clarity Edge camera, then yes - the Clarity Edge Fatigue Camera is an add-on for Clarity Edge AI, and Seat Shaker can be added on top of that for heavy vehicles.

If you're on a Clarity Connected or Clarity Solo camera, then you'll need to upgrade to Clarity Edge for the fatigue detection capabilities.

It's important to have a driver fatigue policy regardless. The AI camera is only one part of managing driver fatigue. Fatigue monitoring systems like Clarity Edge can catch what driver hours rules alone can miss - a driver can be within their legal hours and still be dangerously fatigued due to poor sleep, stress or illness.

You should still set expectations with drivers about fatigue - and that starts with a policy.

With regards to work and rest times,  drivers of heavy vehicles must also comply with local regulations, including the NHVR fatigue rules and work diaries.
