Silvarole Trucking simplifies regional and local compliance with EROAD

Challenges

To find an ELD solution that would meet the needs of its local and regional operation.

With ten of its 40 trucks used regularly outside a 100-mile radius and only a few drivers required to use an ELD on most days, Silvarole Trucking sought an Electronic Logging Device that would provide the ability to simply and easily enable a short haul exemption when traveling locally. To meet changing operational needs, the company also needed an in-cab ELD that could easily be transferred between vehicles.

Solution

Silvarole Trucking has been using EROAD ELDs since the FMCSA mandate took effect in December 2017. Prior to choosing the solution, the company researched different devices from a number of suppliers as well as smartphone based logging apps.

The simplicity of the EROAD ELD has allowed even seasoned drivers at Silvarole Trucking to adapt easily to the technology, leading them to quickly embrace the solution and comment that it is easier to use than paper logs.

It’s also easy for the company’s mechanics to log in when they’re moving trucks in and out of the shop, virtually eliminating the need to correct log entries.

The EROAD ELD is an FMCSA registered, third party verified in-cab solution that features a driver friendly, simple display and transfer capabilities for facilitating roadside enforcement and reducing administrative time and paperwork. The EROAD ELD also provides fleet managers with the ability to review and edit logs that drivers can accept on the in-vehicle display and can provide additional compliance and operational solutions including fuel tax management, GPS tracking and driver performance monitoring.

Results

A simple to use ELD that meets driver and management needs.

With only a handful of trucks exceeding the 100-mile limit regularly, the EROAD ELD provides drivers at Silvarole Trucking with a straightforward short haul exemption feature when they’re traveling locally.

With initial installation of the EROAD ELD taking less than 30 minutes per truck, the company is able to quickly install a device in any vehicle that is assigned to a long-haul route.

“EROAD was fully supportive from the start. Rather than just sending us emails and product information like other suppliers, they came to our facility and demonstrated the ELD and answered our questions on the spot. We’re also extremely satisfied with EROAD’s support. When we had a problem with one of the ELD devices, for example, they responded quickly and sent a replacement unit for installation the next day.”
