Taking the Easy Road

Multiple trucks out on the road, loose slips of paper handwritten with truck repairs needed, paper logs, mileage sheets, tax forms, data entry. We had no idea where the trucks were at any given moment, and no clue if the drivers were following posted speeds or idling their trucks all day while waiting for loads. Yes, that is how things were operating on a daily basis and we were doing our best to make it work.

Then we discovered EROAD. The initial installation was simple and the staff are both knowledgeable and friendly to work with. EROAD is easy to use and provides us very detailed reports and information in the areas where we needed it most. We have been able to control our business in a way we never thought possible.

Some improvements include truck productivity, driver habits and hours, safety, compliance and cost savings overall. By having the ability to track our off-road miles, we are saving tax dollars. It’s great knowing it is accurate and accepted by ODOT. Our drivers no longer have to keep track of this and can focus on other tasks. Using fleet summary reports we’re able to monitor the fleet idle and average speed.

This reduces fuel consumption, our environmental footprint, and lowers our maintenance costs. We now have more control over expenses with these tools. Driver performance as well as company policy and safety standards are important to maintain. The EROAD reports provide the tools and information we need to hold the drivers accountable.

Before EROAD, trucks may have needed maintenance and we weren’t able to get it scheduled in a timely manner as there was no way to track them efficiently. After EROAD, all services and repairs are monitored closely. All equipment is in good order and in compliance. Now our mechanic can manage and schedule the needed services and track repair costs down to the penny. With the electronic tracking of repairs, pulling a report gives a detailed description of the work that was done. Also, receipts and photos can be scanned for thorough record keeping. We’ve gone from okay maintenance records to superior, detailed reports! In addition to our truck fleet, we are able to track other assets like our chassis and gensets.
